Г [g] – Russian Г resembles English G in words like ‘go’ and ‘get’. Important! Russian Г is never pronounced as g in ‘gem’ or ‘gesture’.
Д [d] – Russian Д differs a bit from the corresponding sound in English. To make a perfect Russian Д you should move the tip of your tongue forward and down until it reaches the front teeth (watch the video).
Н [n] – Do the same trick with your tongue to make the Russian sound H.
Т [t] – Aspiration! Remember that in Russian we never have this short puff of breath after any consonants. First, you should try to feel the difference in English. Practice with the words ‘tea’ and ‘try’; ‘take’ and ‘trouble’.
К [k] – With Russian sound K you should understand the “problem” of aspiration again. Practice with words ‘cake’ and ‘clean’; ‘kind’ and ‘clock’.
С [s] – Russian C resembles the corresponding sound S in English. Try to pronounce words like ‘soup’ and ‘sand’. It’s a little sharper and more ‘whistly’.
З [z] – Russian sound З is very easy if you master S first. Just add the voice (watch the video). In general, this sound is very similar to English Z in words ‘zoo’ and ‘zebra’.
