Episode 40 – How I celebrate New Year

Я очень люблю Новый год с детства и всегда с особой радостью жду его. Ощущение праздника появляется ещё с первым снегом. Потом город украшают нарядными ёлками, огнями и гирляндами.
Больше всего я люблю отмечать Новый год дома, в кругу семьи. По телевизору весь день показывают новогодние фильмы («Ирония судьбы», «Девчата» и другие). Утром мы ходим гулять в парк, а потом начинаем готовить праздничные блюда. Традиционный новогодний стол состоит из: закусок с красной икрой, салатов «Оливье», «Сельдь под шубой», какого-нибудь горячего блюда. Обязательно шампанское.
В 11 вечера мы садимся за стол провожать старый год. В 11.55 по всем каналам транслируется обращение президента, в полночь бьют куранты и звучит гимн. Все поздравляют друг друга с новым годом и обмениваются подарками.

I love New Year since childhood and always wait for it with great joy. The feeling of a holiday appears together with the first snow. Later the city is decorated with firtrees, lights and garlands.
Most of all I like to celebrate New Year at home with my family. On TV they show new year movies (“The irony of fate”, “The gals” and others) all day long. In the morning, we go to the park and after that start cooking holiday meals. A traditional new year’s table consists of appetizers with caviar, salads “Olivier” and “Herring under a fur coat”, and some hot dish. Champagne is a must.
At 11 pm we sit down at the table to see the “old” year off. At 11.55 all the channel broadcast the President’s speech, and at midnight the chime rings and the hymn resounds. Everyone says Happy New Year to each other and exchange presents.
